While I understand the attraction of eating in the open, especially on the beach, it has become too easy for those not doing so responsibly. I found this disposable BBQ littering a clear beach this morning. Luckily, it was cold and not still hot and buried like some are – I was walking barefoot and my spaniel and I were both wombling along and could have been seriously hurt if it had scorched us under the sand. Apart from the environmental impact of sourcing the charcoal and other materials, plus whatever they belch into the environment, there’s the problem of disposing of them after use. I carried this one half a mile to the nearest bins. Still, at least no child or animal got hurt this time and it’s no longer litter.
